The youth of Sderot has chosen to fight despair with the power of creativity and music. Under the artistic direction of Avi Vaknin, the kids who come to play and sing in Sderock -- the local club for young musicians, wrote their own songs about living in fear and about HOPE.
A record containing five songs by three different musical groups has been produced and the kids also toured Israel in an effort to raise awareness. Their songs tell about life in a void that is only filled with constant Qassam attacks.
The young singers, optimistic kids with great love for their hometown of Sderot, choose not to give up and they create high quality music albeit the tough conditions. Their heartfelt monologues are expressive and authentic as only real life experiences can be. By now many of those kids are serving in the IDF but the next generation is still there, living, creating and hoping for piece and quiet.
